Whether it’s your family, your neighborhood, clubs or your church, you’ve been a part of communities your whole life. WGU was built on the idea that just because you are “at a distance” doesn’t mean you can’t be a part of a vibrant community. Now that you’ve graduated from WGU, it’s no different. This is why we’ve built the WGU Alumni Community.
The WGU Alumni Community is here to help you stay connected and continually provide you with a sense of community as you pursue success. With a variety of available communities, you’ll be able to create lasting relationships with students, alumni, faculty, and friends of WGU. |

*Especially for graduates of the Teachers College
Placement Files for Teachers
Some school districts require this file as part of the hiring process. Many times your placement file will be required to complete the application process. WGU Education Placement Center is the only authorized place that can send these official WGU education records. When school districts request placement files, often they will only accept these files if they are sent by the University itself. In the cases where the placement file is not required as part of the hiring process, the file will present your credentials in a professional, consistent manner. This helps create that all-important first impression of you and your ability to do a good job teaching!
Access to TaskStream for Teachers
Graduates from the teachers college are given a six-month subscription to TaskStream through the alumni community. You will be able to provide potential employers with a link to your electronic portfolio, and will be able to access the work you completed during your program with this subscription.
Mentoring for First Year Teachers
Research shows that between 40 and 50 percent of new teachers leave the profession within the first 5 years of teaching. One major reason given for leaving is they feel a lack of support. By being a part of the teachers college alumni community, you will not only have the support of your fellow alumni, but you will have access to mentoring and support while you are in the classroom from an experienced teacher with 15 years of classroom experience.
