How long after graduating does it take to receive my diploma?

Diplomas are mailed to the graduate at the address indicated on the graduation application within three weeks of receiving the application, pending any financial hold that may be on a student account. If you have not received your diploma within this time period, please contact the Student Records Office at records@wgu.edu or 866-895-9660 ext. 3146.

How long will my WGU e-mail address work?

WGU student e-mail accounts do not expire.

How do I order an official transcript?

Transcripts may be ordered in the following ways:
1. ONLINE at the www.studentclearinghouse.org, using a credit card. Online delivery options range from next day express service to mail within five business days.

2. BY MAIL, by sending a handwritten or typed request to the Student Records Office.

  • The handwritten or typed request must include your name and other names used, the last year attended or graduated, social security number, current mailing address, e-mail, and phone number (so we can contact you if there are any problems in processing the request).
  • The request must be signed.
  • Include the name and address of the recipient if the transcript is to be mailed to someone other than you.
  • Make checks or money orders payable to Western Governors University in the amount of US $5.00
  • Mailed transcript requests should be sent along with payment to:

Requests received by mail are processed at our lowest priority in the order they are received.

How do I obtain an unofficial transcript?

To access/download your unofficial WGU transcript, go to the "Resources" tab of the Student Portal and select "Access My Unofficial Transcript".

How do I activate my WGU Access Rewards account?

Please register to the WGU Alumni Community website. During the registration process, you will be asked if you would like access to the Rewards Program. If you need assistance, please contact Alumni Relations at alumni@wgu.edu.

I’m applying to another university for a graduate or terminal degree program. What should I expect? Will they accept my WGU education?

Please note that each university has its own set of steps and admission requirements for graduate school or terminal program. Candidates for graduate school are examined in different areas: the strength of their application/essay, letters of recommendation, graduate school test scores, and so forth. Additionally, some schools require applicants to have experience in the field, or to have a particular GRE score or GMAT score while others require a combination of both. Generally, most schools require that a student have graduated from an accredited program. Since WGU is regionally and NCATE accredited, the university satisfies the requirement of an accredited program.
